NC Early Vote: Women, of all ages, kicked a$$ thru Sunday

We all remember how Kansas reacted to Roe being overturned.  Republicans will some day rue Roe being overturned.  Turns out — that day may be Tuesday.

I’ve taken a crack at churning the numbers available from North Carolina’s Elections Results and Data page, (as of today’s early morning update), and the numbers are mind boggling.  And good …

Keep in mind, the following is based upon which partisan ballot was chosen by each voter.  There will hopefully be even better news when final results perhaps show that some (many?) Republican women, and perchance some disaffected men, kicked the GOP habit and voted for Democrats.

Statewide, the gender gap for Democrats who have already voted is just shy of 24%, and more than 10% for every race/age group I looked at.  Even for the White demographic, the gender gap is tightest for those  65 and older, and still over 19% there.

As for Republicans, the gender gap statewide is just shy of 0.4% and ranges from -19.5% for the smattering of Black Republican voters under age 35 to just over 20% for Asian voters between 35 and 50.

The statewide partisan lean favours Democrats by over 6.8%.  While White voters still lean reliably Republican, those under age 35 lean Democrat by 1.1%

The wrinkle to be wary of is that unaffiliated voters, who comprise close to a third of all who have voted early, show a gender gap that is closer to that of Republicans.

For comparison purposes, these numbers have not changed much since 2020, when more than twice the numbers voted Absentee in North Carolina.  If there is a notable shift, it would be that the partisan Absentee lean of more than 6.8% this year compares favorably to the Absentee lean in 2020 of 5.9%.  Not bad for a state that many thought was a shade of purple in the run-up to 2020, with an open Senate seat being contested this year to boot.  Here’s hoping!

Keep your fingers and toes crossed, but sleep well tonight!
